35 caliber wildcats

And just because we all need to explore our limits...

I borrowed this from a poster on another website because I can't find my pictures right this minute.

For all concerned, this is a wiffle ball load meant to allow for more than one shot a day!;)

My full power load for long range elk hunting is 3150 FPS with the Woodleigh 250 gr. Protect Point. Be aware that this cartridge and load is not for the faint of heart!

A North Rim Elk (once in a lifetime hunt) was harvested with one shot at 825 yards. It turned, walked two steps and went to the ground. The bottom of the heart was gone. The hunter was a 71-year-old, .35 caliber fanatic!

I just happened to think that there is an exceptional wildcat cartridge in .35 caliber built on the .284 Win. case. It's very efficient and more than adequate for your farm field distances. It's capable of 700+ yards with deer killing power.:)

Just so happens that the original 445 Super Mag brass (.160 longer than a 44 mag) was made from 30-40 Kraig brass. So you could make up a .429 barrel for the 444 and use the 444 brass cut down. Makes a great cast bullet rifle. That will give you all the thumper you will need. The 30-40 rim is very thick so the bolt may be set way back with a real wide extractor slot. Star Line does make 445 brass now and then.
You could but off a 444 die set or just use 44 mag dies to reload the 445. Might have to inside neck ream the case web area to fit a .429 bullet.

I am from Iowa and we had a similar law a few years back. 450 bushmaster is king and we had horrible experiences with the 350 legend. In today's world with your laws, I would be looking at the bergaras or christensons in a turn key 450 bushmaster package. Now in Iowa they removed the straight wall part so we are running 35 whelens and 358 winchesters. I wouldn't invest a ton of money into something unique as it is only a matter of time before Ohio follows Iowa and removes the straight wall wording, just my opinion.

As far s the 303 British case. You might look and see what the Australian crowd has done with, they wildcatted it for years.
