340 WBY load data?

friend shooting a factory 340WBY Mag

160gr Barnes TTSX looking for powder starting data and COL for the following powders on hand:

IMR7828
IMR4831
IMR4350

i will be watching this today if more info is needed.

OK, all i can find is:

185 lists IMR 4350 between 85-90

"MY" suggestion was start at 86 IMR4350 and watch crony to @3500fps watching pressure?

good or bad advice?

I was looking for someone who did this but we can call Barnes easy enough?

I have loaded hundreds of 340 Wby rounds. Of the powders listed, only 4350 is fast enough for that light of a bullet. I have loaded a few of the lightweight ballistic tips to blow up metal cans filled with water but generally don't load lower than 215s and 225s. I use R17 and R19 mostly.

Watching a chronograph to hit 3500 fps with that bullet will require a bomb suit. You will never get that high without sticking that bolt.

You can start at about 85 grains and watch for it to hit 3250-3300 tops. If I were buying powder to load that bullet it would be R19 or Ramshot Hunter.
