34 " Dasher Barrel

Tom, I bet that ain't the only thing rubbed raw……. LOL…. and Donovan is right on the agg. The barrel will last you a long time, because you don't have to worry about getting in too many shoot offs……… 5" may get you in a 10 shot one but not 5 shots………. jim

The barrel will be a 7.5 T and if it is like my 7.5 I have now 3170 will be all I can get. that will make it 100 FPS faster. So I won,t bet on 3200. I will go for the 3170.
The second bet I like. with one change Here is my offer. You or someone you know come to OUR RANGE and shoot 5 targets with 5 shot each and get 2 out 5 targets that under 5'' I will give the site $ 20.00 for all 5. Larry

I shoot and load more BRXs than Dashers. But I have had no problem achieving 3150fps from either cartridge with a 32" barrel. The problem with running either cartridge at 3150fps they are maxed out and brass life and barrel life suffer exponentially. The accuracy node between 3020 and 3080 fps achieves the best of all worlds.

I've shot barrels ranging from 31 1/2 to 26". The 26" was one of the best shooting I've ever had. It loved the hybrids right at 2980.. Shoots little groups...the 31 1/2" shoots ok, but thinking of cutting it back to 28" even as that is where you'll find most guys saying the Dasher shots best.

Stands to good reason, since the majority start from 28 to 30 blanks, that end up 26.5 to 28.5" finish lengths. Very few have ever tried longer.
Myself the last 5 barrels finished 30 to 31" and like them better then all the previous shorter finished lengths. My primary reason being, 1-grain lighter charge to achieve the same velocity levels = less pressure issues / better brass life.
Donovan, are you shooting free recoil? I found better tracking when I started to go shorter, the gun balanced better.

Larry this is a no brainer. Make it 34 inches and shoot it, you of all people know how to make it shorter. All it will cost is the extra length of the barrel. A wise old sage once told me "when shooting long range you only have 2 friends speed and BC." Most of us settle for one or the other, trying to get both for the extra cost of a long barrel is a good gamble in my book. Is your granddaughter still shooting the 22-250? She was LITTLE when she shot the bench next to me, she had to stand up in the chair.

Ebb She don't shoot much now. My other Grand Daughter shot the first time ever at 1000 yds.
Her first 7 round at practice she hit 3 clays in a row , then shot 13.24 ten shot for her first target the second was 7.7 . With a dasher running 3100 less then 4 inches of vertical. I feel if I can get to 3200 it should only do better. Just when I figured H4350 was the answer. I tried some N550. it shot 20'' higher. 3180 fps, 34'' will let me shoot that speed or faster. Thanks you made her day.

Try VV 165 before you go to the triple based vv powders. We loaded some of my 6.5-284s with VV165 and it shot way faster than any thing previous. I loaded a bunch in jan 2010 for a shoot at Manatee and couldn't make till march, it was way to hot for that load by then. But the 165 worked good when right. it might be easier to find than 550.
