338 WSM powder ????

I am getting ready to play with a 338 WSM and I'm looking for advice on powder selection. I'm going to use 225 grain bullets and probably start with H4350 but I'm open to testing others. For those of you that have played with this, what have you guys tried?
Thanks Bob

Some of us started working with this when Winchester passed around a rumor that they might release this as a real cartridge. I was fortunate enough to get some of the original brass run, complete with the proper headstamp. Unfortunately, they changed their mind when some idiot suggested that it would compete against their highly successful .338 Win. Mag. That was that.

Anyway...

You need to tell us how you intend to load this cartridge since the OAL makes a significant difference in action and magazine length. 225 grain bullets never really impressed me except for the Nosler Partition and their CA friendly E-Tip. But both load slightly different because of the length of each style of bullet.

I was using a fairly standard 24" Bartlein barrel in a 1:10 twist but with a loaded length of 3.1" used in a modified SA for the longer box.

Both the above bullets were fine over either Re16 and Re17. I have never had a problem with temperature sensitivity since I live where temps don't often vary that much. Accuracy was excellent but so was the barreled action set up and the chassis I used.

Enjoy!
