338 Velocity

I am choosing a cartridge for a new build and would like to know where you are finding best accuracy with the 300 grain Sierra Matchking in a few different cases.
Please post your barrel length and velocity for best accuracy if you can for the following cartridges.
338 RUM
338 Edge
338 Lapua
338 Lapua Ackley Improved.

2750 fps in the .2's with H1000

300 Bergers
2875 fps in the .3's wih Retumbo

Good Luck! I love mine & you will too. Funny thing my two favorite guns to shoot are a 6 Dasher and 338 Lapua. Something must be wrong with me.

I've got a 338 Lapua A.I.

30" Brux Barrell / 9.5 twist (Thanks to Norm Brux for this suggestion)
Fire-formed Lapua 338 brass (fired four times)
Case volume H20 = 120.35 gr.
Case necks turned for uniformity / cases weighed and grouped by volume not by case weight alone
94.5 Gr. Hodgon H-1000 powder / RCBS 1500 dispenser thrown 1 Gr. under then reweighed on my Accu-Lab scale
Remington 9 1/2 Magnum Primers (also weighed and group sorted)
K & M primer seater with dial indicator

300 gr. Sierra Matck Kings with 0.022" jump average 2770 fps (group weighed and measured from base to ogive)

300 Gr. Berger Hybrids with 0.00" (touching lands) average 2785 fps (group weighed and measured from base to ogive)

For what its worth I've gotten a little better groups at 300 yards with the Bergers but both bullets will average under 1" (five shot groups) at 300 yards. Several differnt shooters have shoot this gun with the same or similar results.

338 Lapua thru a McMillan TAC338. 27 1/2"Schneider bbl. 90gr Retumbo, CCI250 pri,300gr SMK @ 2730fps. 5/8-3/4 moa @100yds

338 edge in a 24" factory savage (338 win rechambered), 300 smk,rem brass, h100, cci250, .005 jump......91.0gr was a little hard on primer pocket but shot in the .2 range @2775fps. Dropped to 89.0gr which shoots .2-.3 @2710fps. EDIT: for the record my short little 338 edge throws 300 sierra slugs at 2781fps using the light 89.0 grain load and chronographs lie.

What about the .338 Norma Magnum? I hear it shoots right up there with the Lapua, and it fits in a regular magazine length.
