338 LM light bullet loads, anyone...

I got a deal on 500 250gr .338 Sierra MK's.

Anybody here got any advice on loading data. Sierra doesn't.

I used H1000 and Retumbo when I was playing with 250 lapua's. I'm stuck on 285 hornadys and Retumbo since I've had good luck with them. I may have had better luck with a differant powder for 250s. thoese are the only two powders I tried. I have read good things about Rl33.

I just looked in the classifieds, I'm glad you beat me to that deal because I would have jumped lol, now you can burn that powder finding a load instead of me!

I started with 250 SMKs and IMR7828. 87.0 grs got me 3 shots in 1.45 inches at 300 yds. Velocity @ 2,800 fps. Have since went to 300 grainers with same powder, about the same accuracy. Have RL33 in the wings. DKHunt says its very accurate and good for more velocity. Ladder test will tell.

Very, very fun on rockchucks!

It has been good with 338 Lapua IMP, 338-378, and 338 Ultra IMP. Very accurate, more velocity and better groups at 1000 with all 3. It seems to really like the heavy bullets. Also likes to be near max loads. It gave 100 to 150 increase over Retumbo, H1000 and 50 BMG. It also did it with less pressure. Start low and go up a grain at a time to see where you can go. Matt

I use Reloader 25 with 250 grain SMK with good result on my 338 Lapua Ackley Improved. I can't remember exactly how many grains I used... I have to look at my note.
