338 LM Freebore for 300 grain bergers

carlsbad

Lions don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
Getting ready to rebarrel my 338LM and looking for a reamer. Having trouble finding any threads with good information on the right freebore to use. Some recommend the Tac Match reamer sold by grizzly but I think the freebore on that is huge resulting in a big jump. Maybe the big bullet is fine with that?

I don't much care about COAL, which is what most people are concerned about setting the freebore. I'll mostly shoot single shot and if I want to load rounds to fit in a magazine, I'll accept the large jump then.

Any suggestions?

In my custom 338 LM rifle and Match tactical chamber , the jam length is 3,800" for 300 MK.

At 3,760" I have .005" jump ( best I can measure)

I got a reamer with 225 FB for a 338 Lapua Rogue I am building and with it I got a 338 throater for I think $60. more that will let me do what I want with the FB. Just a thought......... ;)

With my reamer in a single feed for the 300 SMK's my FB will be 295-300 for my build.
