.338 Lapua Load Recipe

Just aquired a Savage .338 Lapua and curious to hear from those who reload for this caliber. I am leaning more towards the 300 grain bullets. Would like to hear about accurate loads from anyone willing to share.

Thanks,
Dan

300gr SMK's 91gr of H-1000 fed match mag primer .003 from the lands, Lapua brass is a must.......unless u like tapping on your bolt with a mallet... which gun do you have long range hunter , FCP-HS or BA

Lapua brass, CCI LR mag primers, almost a full load of H1000, topped off with a 300gr SMK coated in HBN.
Many have stated they use this load.

Berger 300gr Hybrid Tactical, Reloader 25 - 90.2 gr, Fed Magnum primers, v v accuaret in my DTA SRS but every rifle likes whatever it likes. You will have to experiment to see what that is. ALWAYS start low and work up slowly.

My savage 110 FCP likes Norma case with Fed. 215M primers with 87.0 grains of reloader 25 and a 300gr matchking loaded to mag length. Got some lapua brass and reloader 33 to try this spring.

89g N570 or 89g H1000 , naked lapua scenar 300g. , wolf primers, seating depth and load in your FCP WILL VARY for your rifle but in my 110 HSFCP .010 off the lands is still way below mag length with the Lapua Scenar ( no damaged points if you load your mag and shoot from it ) and very curate in my rifle. Gets me 2750 average. Low es and sd. Barrel is taking some time to break in but shooting better after 50 rounds, and I expect it to get even better in another 50.

Good luck!

P.s. LAPUA BRASS.

N570 is correct, thanks for the callout!

93.5g Retumbo and 300 Berger Hybrid match COAL 3.75, 97.5 RL 33 and same bullet, both loads give 2819 fps. Anyone have loads for the 285 Hornady using RL 33?

Reloader 25, Retumbo and H-1000, not necessarily in that order. Take your pick.

Mine is Ackleyrize so I can stuff 95 grains of Retumbo on it to propel the 300 grain SMK at around 2900 fps.

I use my 338 Lapua for moose hunting shooting mostly 1K and under here in Alaska off Tripod.

250gr Accubond
97.0 Ramshot Grand
Lapua Case
Fed 215
3000 fps

I see you are using Wolf primers. I assume they are magnum primers. If available, can you please share the ES and SDs for your loads. I am starting to collect data on Wolf primers.

18 Years ago when I was loading 338LM, I used various powders (not any VV) but found that H1000 was too sharp in recoil but Retumbo was better in recoil and accuracy. I did use Federal 215 primers for all loads.

I sold the rifle 14 years ago because it became boring plus I had access to a 400 yard range, where I needed a 1000 yard range.
