.338 lapua COAL

Hey guys was wondering what kind of seating depths are being used with the Berger 300gr OTM .338 bullets and what those are equating to in the over all length. I'm also wondering if anyone has tried reloader 25 powder with these. I'm wondering the COAL to see if they would fit in my magazine since I don't want to single load them.

Id guess to say from the few savage barrels i own you will not be able to touch the lands and fit the magazine. Like the resto of their guns they probably add a long throat to reduce pressure and increase safety. Look in the tips section on using a dremmel to cut 3 slots in a piece of brass and check it yourself. Or you could even just drop a bullet down the barrel then put a piece of brass in the chamber and tip the gun on the muzzle and see how far the bolt comes to closing to get a rough idea of how far the bullet can be seated into the brass and still be close to the lands. I did this with a savage target barrel that was off the gun and was surprised how long the throat was. There was almost no room for the bullet to be held by the neck and touch the lands.
