338 lapua 285 bthp hornady loads anyone?

I am wanting to try hornady 285 bthp in my soon to be here 338 lapua, anyone have a good starting point, also any loads are appreciated thanks

Since I've been unable to find my rifles bullet of choice, 300gr SMK, I'm going to load up some test ammo using the Hornady 285gr and Lapua Scenar 300gr this week. I've had very good luck with H1000 and have done a little testing with VV N-570. I will be using 88.0-90.0gr for both powders, Rem 9 1/2M primers and Lapua brass. Don't waste your money on any other brass. I started using Hornady brass for my .338 Lapua loads, but it is WAY TOO SOFT. Worst case the bolt would get stuck and best case I would have to tap the case out of the barrel with a cleaning rod and this was not with hot loads. Brunos sells the .338 Lapua brass by the piece and the price is about the best out there. They're great folks to do business with as well.

I'd give the 300gr SMK and the Berger 300gr a try as well.

Sparky, thanks i just ordered some Lapua brass from Brunos and i have one box of loaded ammo from HSN to sight in with(hope its works ok). I have H1000 and one box of the Hornady 285 bthps so ill start there.
