338 EDGE build questions

Gentlemen,
I want to build an EDGE on a Winchester M70 stainless classic action. I want it to be a repeater. I'm probably going to use 250 grain bullets, either 250 Sierra Game King or 250 Nosler Accubond. There are some of you that know a ton more than I do about this action so I have questions.
Is it possible using a factory magazine? If not which mag should I be looking at?
What will need done to the action to accomadate the mag?
Are all the long actions the same? I know it was available in a 300 RUM and I thought about starting with one of those if I can find one, but I have other long action magnums already that I may cannibalize. If I found a 300 RUM I wouldn't want to tear it apart unless I had to.

Give me your thoughts.
Thanks

I shoot a 338 Edge and 250 grn Berger Elite Hunters. You’ll need a Wyatt’s 4” mag box if you want a repeater. I don’t know anything about the M70. Mine was built on a Remington 700 long action which required some milling. Probably need to ask yer smith about the compatibility of the two.

M70 mag box is way too short. I don't know if a Wyatts box can get you to 3.85+" in length, which you'll need. I'd plan for 4".

I feed 300 Scenar from a CIP+ Accurate-Mag. 300 A-Tip or Berger Hybrids are out of the question.

My Edge was built before the really big boxes were available. Shoots 300 grain SMK’s really well at a COAL of 3.76”

What is the max COAL in your Win 70?

Earnhardt, I don't really have a donor gun yet. I have a few M70s that I could pull apart but I didn't really want to. What I am learning is that on a standard magnum long action the mag box is approx 3.4" and on a 7 STW or RUM it is 3.6". For an EDGE I would want at least 3.8 which means I would be using a Wyatt mag box if possible.

Sounds like you have a good plan, The donor rifle you mentioned (IMO) should be suitable. My 338 Edge started out as a Sako TRG-41 in 300 Win mag.
Keep us updated on your build.
Tim
