338 EDGE barrel twist ????

I know this has been discussed before but when I did a search a lot of the info was over 10 years old... so assuming a lot of shooting and testing has been done in that time, I'm going to ask

What twist would you recommend for a 338 EDGE running 250 - 270 grain bullets?
I'm planning a hunting rifle that will be a repeater with a 3.8" mag length and shooting 250 gr to 270 gr bullets. (250 Game King - 250 Partition - 270 gr ELD X)

I'm sure a 10 twist will work BUT is a 9.5 or even a 9 twist better? Is there ANY disadvantage to using a 9 twist? I doubt that you could over spin a bullet that heavy but I might be wrong.

Please give me your opinions -
Thank you!

I think anything from a 1:9 to a 1:10 should be fine. I have shot the 300 grain Berger OTM is an EDGE out to 1.5 miles and they shot unbelievably well. No stability issues there.

Hornady recommends a 1:10 min for the ELDX. Stability is related to density altitude. The 1:10 should work fine a sea level and be overkill as you go up in elevation. I dont see any reason that you need to go to a faster twist. Its not necessarily bad though either. Increasing the rpms can increase bullet expansion on game pretty dramatically. That can be good and that can be messy.

I had one built 15 years ago by Shawn and had a 28"/10 twist on mine. Shot 300g smks at 2850. I'm only at 500 ft ASL. I had zero issues out to 1400 yards. Killed a few spike bulls out to 900 yards and it definitely hammers! Kinda miss that rifle. One I regret selling...
