338 BR

Hi has anyone built a 338BR or 338 Whisper i am wondering what twist you are using for 300gr MatchKings will an 8 twist be ok? Did you just modify 7mmBR or 30BR dies?

Is there enought meat in the neck of the 6 BR to neck it up so much??

Maybe the 7 BR would work. really depends on how thin a neck you want in 338??

There is plenty of neck i want to use Lapua cases not remington cases as the reamer will be made for Lapua already have 50 cases necked up no failures.

Just after any results with 300gr MatchKings at 1000fps and what twist worked for you

Bill,

Did you ever get this cartridge working? Please list details of possible as I am also looking at doing something like this.

I did a 338 whisper. Shot 300smk above a lil bit of lil gun. Not sure it would kill a squirrel at 50yds but it was cute and no ear muffs necessary

I have two IN 338BR. One is remington 700 action with 7 twist 16 1/2 barrel and other is DTA rifle with an 8 twist 22 inch barrel. Both shoot 300smk well subsonic. I use 200 gr. Hornady for supersonic.
