I am going to chamber up a 33-28 Nosler. My donor rifle is a New M-70 SS CRF action with a Benchmark barrel chambered in 340 Wby. The rifle started life as a 338 Win, and I removed the spacer from the magazine. I can't remember if I worked on the bolt stop and ejector, but it feeds and ejects perfectly, like belted magnum cases usually do.
The fat Nosler cases don't feed well. I really don't want to install the long Wyatt's box I have because I don't need 3.8" for the 33-28 Nosler. 3.6" is about perfect. While I am looking for a 300 RUM M-70 magazine I am not hopeful.
My question:
If I cut windows in the current magazine box, will the extra width created allow proper feeding? I assume I can cut out these windows in the milling machine.
