31° and they are out!

Could not quite believe my eyes! We just got through 8-10 inches of snow and freezing rain / sleet and today was sunny and barely above freezing and there he was...?grazing. Went by the same area 25 min later and wtf...another one sitting at his hole. The ghogs are awakening! If they only knew what I have in store for them... ! A 20 TAC pushing 35 gr bergers at 3900 fps and 32 sbks at 4100 fps. I have also charged my 6 BR with 66 gr cheeks to run 3550+.

What load are you using for the 32 SBKs?? I am working up loads for a 20 TAC too.

While ours are not groundhogs, the prairie dogs are EVERYWHERE and we just had a foot of snow dumped on us. The temps are about the same, and there isn't a hayfield or pasture without a dog in it. Time to break out the 204!

For the 32 sbks i' v tried H4198 23.6-24 gr and get 4160-4230 fps and 5/16 in or less for a three shot group. Rel 10X, 25 gr and MV is 4100 fps and has put three into a .144" group. LT 32, 24 gr printed a .25" group but only going 3900 fps. This latter powder has promise. I haven't taken the 20 TAC afield yet but the visual effect of one of these lightening bullets on oranges is impressive!!!

Saw a road-killed groundhog almost three weeks ago during a brief "warm" (almost 20 degrees) and sunny day, laying in two feet of snow on the berm. Got pretty bummed, not because I felt sorry for it but because of the fact that he may have met his demise before knocking-up some female 'hog and denying me future "targets". >:(

Not GHs but was out popping p-dogs the last month steadily already, just packed all over the ranches I have.
Hope your year for GH is good there.

The cold weather finally seems to have broke here in S/E Pa., got pretty warm and a lot of snow melted today.

It won't be long now! :D

Still 3 feet of snow here...but I did get my rifle bedded, all my ammo loaded and scopes all swapped out, bore sighted so as soon (month) as I can see the mud I can go do my pre-season sight-in/equipment check. Yippeee, mud season is just around the corner

So far this year [2015] I have zapped at least 4 doz Pdawgs.. Just go out on a sunny warm day.. Actually I think they may be out most of the winter, but I usually cannot get to these areas because of snow.
