with temps in the 90s the ghogs have been saying in. the temps dropped into the low 80s and they came out to a "hard" welcome. last thurs a small one was grazing and gave me a profile and dropped dead from a 64 gr berger bullet, hollowpointed by me. delivery was with my new 22 BR, stiller single shot using vv540 powder and it is a HUMMER! it shoots in the ones consistently. range was 342 yds. a big mama at 250 yds fell to the same and weighed in at a whopping 14 lb 2 oz! went back on fri and a black one appeared at 353 yds and i missed TWICE with my 6x47 lapua and the dummy just stood and walked and ate! okay, bring out the 22 BR and wait for a profile...very slight wind. put the dot of the 8x32 sightron at mid pig and sent it...you guessed it DRT! i saw the hit at center chest and the pig rolled on his side and gave me the tail wag. weight...13 lb! this gun is magic! all 8 ghogs i pointed it at have died of acute lead poisoning. the 353 yd ghog had a very small exit with a drop of blood, telling me that just about all of the energy in the bullet was dispensed in it's chest...don't like to waste energy with large exit woulds. i have some 65 gr jlks vld bullets on order thinking they would be the accuracy king, but these bergers are unbelievable. back to the same field soon as the landowner "harvested" a 16 lb ghog there a few weeks ago!
