30x47 Savage target???

I am considering a Barrel Purchase to build a 30x47 for my Savage Target Action. This will be a 1 in 14 twist high grade barrel. I am totally ignorant so to speak about this caliber other than what I am finding to read on the forum. So far, it seems that this is suitable for the purpose intended. I wish to build this 30x47 for competition on a local club level. Ranges will vary from 100-600 yds.

I will have (2) gun set-up, this 30x47 is going to be shot in the Custom Class and will be my score gun and hopefully it will compete with a few others shooting the 30 BR, especially when they are trying to stretch those BR's out to 400 plus yards. I'm hoping the extra from the 30x47 will give me an edge out past 300yds. Gun #2 will be my Factory Class and it is currently an LRPV 223 but may some become a 6mm BR...I hope.

Looking for any suggestions for having a barrel chambered for this 30x47 to fit my large shank Savage. Any information on using a 1-14 twist barrel or suggestion for details on a good reamer to use. Really not sure what to ask about, just need help getting pointed in the right direction.

Well the 30x47 is used primarily in hunter class rifle for 100 and 200 yard for score, with a 6 power scope the gyus that shoot these score just as well as those with a 30BR that is used for same thing but with any power scope, how either one will do beyond 200 I have no idea, 600 yard is more for the 6mm br you mentioned or any variant of the 6mm and 6.5mm as far as useing your Savage action it depends on what you are shooting against, such as Kelby or Bat, you won't be in the same ball game, so to speak, going your route would be the cheapest maybe , but see what everyone else is shooting that will tell you something.

One of the local clubs has a varmint match like you're talking about. It's 300 yards. The 30 BRs rule till it gets windy, then the 10 twist 6BRs shooting mid weight bullets take over.

GSPV, SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT, I have seen some guys on windy day shoot their 30br at 100 then switch to 6br for 200.

It would be like the straight walled 300 Savage cat that
shooters played with on the 200 yard rams.
