30mm to 1" scope rings, experience ?

I'm a Bench rest competition shooter only.

I'm playing with a Kodiak action.
.489 +- dovetail. Changing it back& fourth from varmit/Hunter to custom class.

I have a 6x scope 1" tube & a couple of variables w/ 30mm tubes. Getting scope rings that would be interchangable sounds useful.

However, since great accuracy is the desire I'm not sure how rings with sizing inserts stack up against solid rings.

What say the think tank here?

I bought 3 sets to reduce 30mm to one inch. They work fine. cheap enough to play with. I use reg/& Signature Burris rings too. It is not easy fitting all this stuff together.

I have 3 rifles with 1" inserts , no issues in 8-9 years , swfa rings come with inserts that will fit other rings like Burris as long as the width allows -
With the Burris inserts being D-shaped are you just getting contact with the lead and trail edges ?

I have made a couple of sets Out of 7075 aluminum. Works just fine.
really Simple to make. Machine the aluminum about 2 1/2 inches long the same diameter as one of your 30mm scopes, bore to the diameter of your 6x 1 inch tube scope. Part them to length, split with a hacksaw.

I fully understand what you are saying but I don't think they are necessarily talking about converting Burris rings just any 30mm ring with a flat inner surface. Now that you have brought it up it is kind of surprising that Burris has never offered a conversion insert for their 30mm rings. I guess they would rather sell you another set of rings. For what it's worth you can find the conversion inserts on Ebay relatively cheap.

not the elevation insert type - just strait 30mm that come without inserts -they are the same width and work well -the 3 rifles are all in 223 or 223ai, but I would trust this setup on larger calibers

I've used the 30mm-1" Delrin reducers quite a bit with no trouble. Actually, they offer some benefits if you don't lap and bed the scope rings.

Good shootin' :) -Al
