30cal hunters who dont like pigs...lol

My first post 8) and just thought id share a little! I built a rifle based on the Savage PTA chambered ( by me) in 308 win. 30" barrel 1-17 twist just for the 110 vmax's. I use a VERY stout load of N530 , lapua brass, so Id rather not post it but velocity is well beyond 3500 with accuracy in the .3's no prob. Anyhow, I wanted to see what it would do to a hog. My very first one was 210yds right between the eyes. It looked like it was chewing on dynamite to say the least lol. 2nd one I hit the shoulder at about 360 yds and just destroyed it, drt.
Im very pleased with this build. Its hell on ground hogs inside 600yds and drops pigs no problem. I went back and forth between the 300wsm and the 308 win. I feel that with lapua brass and vit powders this thing gives up little to the 300 varminter inside 500yds.

lol, 3500fps + with .308. I hear "rumors of pig" in NM but havent found any. Where do you hunt?

Ive been watching the shows on discovery about how theyre taking over the country. Ive got a .308 and .300 wsm ready to go, loaded 180game king and 185 bergers. Hopefully the pigs will be here soon!!

All over down south!! Theyre everywhere. You can get 3500+ with a very slow twist with a 110. Hodgdon even has " safe" loads to 3300+. Most people who shoot them are out of Ar-type platforms with short, fast twist barrels. I cant imagine this bullet at over 4000 on some eastern groundhogs.

The 125 Speer TNT around 3100 fps is pretty wicked on groundhogs.

Someone had a video posted a couple years ago with a 300WSM cranking 125 Ballistic Tips at 4000+ on woodchucks. Red Mist pretty well says it all.

Ha! I bet thats a blast, litterally. Ive got a trg42 338L that I never shoot. I very very badly want to rebarrel to a 30-338L to shoot the 125's at some wild hogs. Hitting them with the 110vmax is extremely funny to me, usually I cant take another shot because im laughing too hard. I hate these damn things. Ive shot them with pellet guns just to piss them off. Last year I pissed one off so bad he charged me. Big mistake, he got caught with a 400gr 500 s&w in the face lol. My brother shoots them with a 460 revolver and it does very well too.

I just re-read my previous post, kinda makes me sound like a savage! Im far from it I just really hate pigs for many reasons.

Pigs are a pox in a lot of areas. Michigan had none & now because of game farms, they're in 46 counties. DNR has declared open season on them & the population is still growing. They destroy a lot of good habitat.
