The 30 BRX has been around for a while now, what are the latest opinions on the the 30 BRX vs the 30 BR as far as accuracy? What is the most common barrel twist, 1-18? Which bullet weight and ogive seem to work best, which reamer and freebore? Trying to decide which to chamber, 30 BR or BRX for a new rifle build. Thanks for any information.

I had a 30br 1/2 x. It was blown out .050" instead of .100".

Not my cup of tea. Seemed MUCH more finicky to load for. Traded my reamer and brass for a regular old 30br and couldnt be happier.

I'm considering the same .050" extension as you did. Do you mind telling me just how it was finicky compared to your standard 30BR? My interest is just far enough to blow past the initial fireforming donuts.

Don't waste your time on a BRX. Just do a std 30BR, you'd be much better off. The 30BR just works and the BRX can be finicky at times.

I'll definitely get my feet wet with the standard 30BR. I'm getting donuts no matter how I size up the brass. My though is to move the should foward just far enough to pass the resulting donut. Problem is the donuts will not allow the sized case to fit over my turning mandrel.

My experience is just the opposite. I think the 30 BRX is not finicky. I didn't like the 30 BR, but my experience with the 30 BRX has been good so far. I wonder if it's not just about the difference between barrels.

Well look at most of the IBS short range score records, most of them set with a 30BR. You just can't compare the 2. The 30BR flat out works and works well. People that I know who have tried the BRX in SR score competition have always said the same thing and went back to the BR. I have talked to numerous gunsmiths about the BR vs BRX and they all seem to agree that the BR just shoots better because it is inherently more accurate. If the BRX worked better, everybody would be using one and that's just not the case.
