WHATS THE SHORTEST 30BR BARREL YOU HAVE SEEN THAT STILL SHOOTS GREAT IN SCORE SHOOT AT 100 AND 200 YARDS.

I've made a few ;D 8 and 10 " 300 whisper barrels that shot really well.... but I think case capacity might have something to do with it.

This is a great question and one that i had a short time ago. I have a barlein 30BR barrel chambered on a lawton 7500 action at 22" long. I wanted to take this wonderful shooting barrel and re-thread it for a BAT action (once you go BAT you dont ever go back!! LOL!!) The way i was told by a close friend that randy robinette said that he has found no gain or loss in accuracy or velocity between 18 and 22" for the 30BR. No what i need to decide is if i even want to disturb the great shooting barrel i have at 22" long on my lawton 7500 series action. the lawton action is a rock solid action and i have no problems with them in the least. On the other hand i sure do love how those BAT action feel!! Whats on your mind albullet? What are you wanting to do? Lee

I'm having Mike Ezell build me a 30major, which is a 6.5 grendel case necked up to 30 caliber bullet. I have a stiller viper drop port in 6ppc. With the ppc bolt face I had to either rebate case rims or get a new bolt in addition to the new barrel. The case capacity is between 30ppc and 30br. It will happily push 118 bib to 3000 fps with ease and pretty mild recoil. I'm looking forward to running it this season.

Unless weight it THE issue, I wouldn't go less than 21". That said, from 24" to shorter, and using H-4198, you will only 'give-up' about 9-11 FPS per inch of barrel. On a competiton rig, balance is probably a bigger issue than BBL length. RG

andre3k, you shouldnt have to trim the rims on the 6.5 grendel. it is based on the 6PPC so your bolt face is fine

I HAVE A 30BR WHICH I BOUGHT ON THIS WEBSITE. THE BARREL IS THREADED FOR REM. ACTION AND .250 LUG.
I HAVE A GREAT SHOOTING XP100 ACTION WITH TWO BOLTS
WHICH I SHOOT .20VARTARG AND 6PPC. MY PLANS WERE TO ALSO HAVE THIS 30BR BARREL SET UP ON THIS ACTION ,BUT:
THE REM. ACTION IS SLOW AND I HAVE TWO BAT S(PPC FACE) WITH RIGHT EJECT WHICH I WOULD NOW LIKE TO USE THIS BARREL ON. BARREL IS 22.5" WITH THREADS.
SHOULD I SELL TO REM. USER OR CUT,RETHREAD FOR BAT.
IF I RECUT SHOULD I GO WITH THE MAJOR.
