30br or 6br

New to the boards and been kicking around the idea of 30br or 6br.I just want a weapon that will really shoot extremely well at 300 yards.I also was just wondering how much better is the 30br over the 6br at that distance.If the 6br can shoot better than the 30br most of the time consistantly then I will consider stepping up to 6br or rem 260 or 243 or some other cal that will give great accuracy at 300 and 600 and beyond for a short action remmy.Thanks

The 30 BR is a 200 yard gun. It lacks the horsepower to drive high B.C bullets which are a big plus past 300 yards. The 30 BR is great for 100 and 200 yard benchrest where the big 30 cal hole is a plus. A 6 br shooting 105's will get you to from a 100 to 1000 yards with great brass, little powder and good barell life. Between the two I'd take the 6 br if you plan on shooting past 300 yards.

I am pretty confident the 30BR would be fine at 300 yards but if you intend shooting out to 600 and beyond the 6BR or 6BRX is probably more suited i don`t own one so don`t know but when the new Lapua 6.5X47 cases come out i might have to set one up to shoot the 140gr high BC projectiles And i am even toying with the idea of necking up to 30cal and shooting the 155gr projectiles in a 1 in 16 twist barrel we don`t look like getting the brass till very late this year so will see.
I have only shot the one comp at 550 yards with my 30BR and i wasn`t trying to shoot groups but the groups were around 4 Inch anyway I think it is capable of better will see in July when i get to try again.
In the mean time if i get the chance i will try groups at 300 yards and see just what it can do. The more i shoot this rifle the more confident i am that i haven`t reached its full potential small improvements in technique etc. I do not free recoils so it likes to be held at the fore-end, holds it down and the further out you get the more exact you have to be.
