30br neck thickness?

Getting ready to setup my PMA neck turner to turn some newly expanded brass and had a couple of quick questions .

1. What thickness would you all recommend turning them to? The reamer was a .331 neck.

2. Should I turn them in one step to the desired thickness or turn them all to .012 first then to final thickness?

3. Should I lube the outside of the neck as well as the mandrel ? Or just the mandrel? Ill be using the PMA lube and i assume just a light coat is needed and should be reapplied frequently ?

Thanks

On point 3, yes keep the tool wet and watch for heat build up. If the set up runs too fast, there is a risk you will build up too much heat, starve the lube, and gall the brass. A sharp tool will probably not require lube on the outside, but it doesn't hurt to experiment. I don't use it on brass, but I also know when to redress a tool.

On point 2, the answer depends on point one, and what you find after your first cycle. Sometimes, it requires a second look, sometimes not.

Take it slow at first, good luck.
