.30BR Hunting Loads with Heavier Bullets

What powders do you recommend for .30BR deer hunting loads using 125gr. - 150 gr. bullets.?
Should I use powders slower than 4198?
I will be using an XP100 pistol with 15" barrel.

Thanks,

deepwater

Why would you need a heavier bullet..??..the 110-115 grain bullet will give you more velocity and better kinetic energy..I have killed many Whitetail deer with a 7mm BR XP-100 using 90 grain bullets..if you think heavier and slower is better go with 35 Remington and 250 grain bullets...
You can push a Bereger 115 grain Match VLD 2700 fps using 34.0-34.5 grns H-4198 and cci-450..keep in mind that Bergers Match VLD bullets have a heavier jacket than their Hunting bullets.. :o

A 30Cal Berger 115gr Match VLD...????

I don't think so unless it's something new and not listed anywhere.

The 30 Cal Berger 115gr is a Flat Base Target (also suitable for Varmints).

The heavier (for .30BR) bullets are what is being used on 200 M Rams. I want a load I can use in both silhouette (for pratice) and hunting.

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but I hope it does. I have a 17twist 24.5" Broughton barrel on my 30BR.
32.5 Gr H4198
CCI BR4 primer
125Gr Nosler ballistic tip jumping .010 gives me 2880 fps. This load will shoot in the .3s & .4s all day long. Thats not as good as when I shoot 116gr Euber's but I loaded it for groundhogs not paper.
Good luck,
Bob

Thank you very much for the replys.

Everybody is pointing towards H4198, VN133 as well. Sierra does list heavier .30BR loads, but not with H4198 (they do list IMR4198

I may be wrong but any Sierra Reloading Data I have seen is for the old 30BR Case with a Large Rifle Primer. Isn't that a different animal to a modern day 30BR using a necked up 6mmBR Lapua Case and Small Rifle Primer.

Sierra shows a 10 twist I believe, I'm would assume it will have more free bore, so your 17 twist if Robinette reamer has 0 freebore.
