How much neck clearance should i have with my brass in a 30br .330 neck? Is .002 not enough? Does it hurt to have a little extra wiggle room? Any experience is appreciated. Im going to turn some brass so i need some solid info. I figured .328 but i didnt know if the 30's shoot a bit better with say a .327 turned case with a .330 chamber Lee

I turn to so my loaded rounds are 0.3285 to 0.3288" at the pressure ring in my 0.330" neck. My chamber cast shows my neck is actually 0.3302". I am happy with 0.015" clearance. Lots of guys run only 0.001" clearance. Just make sure you measure at the pressure ring when the bullet is seated. Luck with your 30BR. Tim

tiny thanks for the info. I am a bit surprised however. I always thought the 30br needed more room than that. Much appreciated Lee

Some do and some don't. Nothing wrong with running 0.001 to 0.0015 clearance as long as you have good QC. I don't know anyone that runs 0.002" or more under on intension, but I don't know that many shooters. I have 0.330, 0.0332, and 0.333 necks and I run the same 0.0010-0.0015" clearance on all. The 0.333 neck has some brass that loads to 0.3305" simply because I couldn't get it to clean all the way up with 0.0015" clearance on all brass so I took another 0.001" off. Maybe others will give input. tim

Skeet last last year i use .002 and did ok this year before my mentor past away we turned our necks for .004 clearance, and have done a lot better a 250-23xs last shoot at bridgeville, so you could turn a few thinner and try them if it don't work you are out a few cases worth a try Mark
