30BR drop tube help

Putting together a drop tube for a 30BR, the ID of the tube is 1/8”. Question is how long should I make the tube for N130 & H4198? Thanks

I use a 10” tube to get a case full of H4198.

Mine is 34" tall,but it was made to charge black powder cases originally. I can get 36gr of N130 half way up the neck in a 30br case.

A slow pour with a 4in. Droptube will put 36- 36.5 of 130 half way up the neck

FWIW, a 3/16" I.D. was as small as I could go with H4198 before it would bridge in the tube. Your results may be different.

LOL Just leaving to imagination.

The PMA 10" drop tube/funnel setup works very well. I've settled on a 4" drop tube with a .17 caliber insert at the bottom to slow the filling. Works almost as good as the 10" tube and isn't as cumbersome when loading at the range.

A savvy pal runs a tap inside his drop tubes to give the powder a bit of 'swirl' as it drops...makes the powder think it's in a longer drop tube.

37.5 gr of H4198 in my 30BR Long (.080 longer) with .040 freebore for 3125 fps depending on the lot with 118 gr. bullets for two different guns. Stout but not excessive
