30br dies

Looked through all the threads, and didn’t really find what I was looking for. Getting everything ready for when my 30br gets to me in a few months.

I’ve read a lot on the harrel’s die. Does it come with bushings or is it just a FL die with the correct shoulder bump?
I usually use Fl die and then a mandrel, but I’m thinking I’d like to do everything in one pass.

Wondering if Wilson, Redding, or Whidden would serve me better?
What do all of you use?

The Harrells die is a FL bushing die that normally is built around fired brass that is sent in to be measured.prior to building it.
Its not built around 3 fired cases, you send in 3 fired cases, they measure then find a die off their shelf that fits the best. They measure all their dies after they make them and sort them into different groups according to the size variance from manufacturing, kind of like sorting brass. When things are manufactured there are variances in size and a given acceptable tolerance. It's the closest thing you are going to get to a custom die, they are great.

They are a full length bushing die, does not come with bushing but uses Redding and Wilson bushings. It also comes with a brass comparator tool to measure shoulder bump. It's a great die, the best for the money for sure and great people to deal with also.

Another vote for Harrell’s. First thing I do with a new barrel is load three cases and fire them three times. Send the 3 cases to Harrell’s and have a die in about 10 days or less. Great folks to deal with also. Die will show up with an invoice in the box for what you owe.

If you are shooting a 30 BR, you really need to be using a bushing FL die. The bushing allows you to adjust neck tension for your gun and that can't be done without having fired brass. It really is a must do. Harrell's is one of few die makers that provides a correct sizing die for your chamber in a short lengthof time.

So how do you fire 3 times without a sizing die? Forgive my stupidity.

Kevin, I've got a bunch of 30BR full length bushing dies. You're welcome to use one to get you started. If you want to do that, specs on the reamer used will help me narrow one down.

Good shootin' -Al
You’re the man Al! I’ll get ahold of you when I’m ready. Much appreciated!
