30BR cut too far into shoulder?

I use imperial wax, but I also use a very sophiticated cooling system that I really need to patent.
I use an old aluminium ammo tray and place ice in it and lay the cutter on the flat surfaces in between cuts. I have several different cutters and I label them with not only the cutting depth but whether they need to be cold or warm to cut that exact depth.

Yes, trying to find a balance as I'm trying to keep the heat down.
Any suggestions on a lube for the mandrel when turning?

I use the Lee white stuff in a tube. Works really well and cleans up quickly by wiping it away with a cloth.

PMA's lube is another good one. A carbide mandrel in the turner is a must.

I use PMA lube on a carbide mandrel when turning (cause I do them1 by 1)

I use wax when expanding (cause I lube up 50 cases and then expand them).

If you're willing to trust internet strangers, give FP10 a try. It smells great and is my favorite for neck turning.

I have just used liquid lanolin for the past several years with absolutely no problems. Same stuff you use to make the alcohol/ lanolin sizing stuff from.

Played around a bit after work last night. So with the thicker brass I got around 329-330 OD seating a few dummy rounds.

Turned the brass just a touch to 975ish and were back to 328.

I tried to be as careful/ slow as possible. Getting a better finish on the necks now.

Played with a few different lubes for the neck. The stuff PMA sells (Royal) actually worked as good as Imperial.

Good to hear you're making progress. FWIW, I come back off the mandrel quite a bit slower than going in. I like to see just a bit of brass 'fuzz' coming off. With the case still in the case holder, I the necks with some 0000 steel wool. -Al

I spin it fast on the steel wool, couple seconds, it'll get HOT. Perfectly burnished necks that look like factory.

I had some 1000 grit sandpaper I kissed them with. Also I'm thinking I'll anneal them now before I neck size them down.
