Hi all well after last years success at 500m this year the mate and i did the trip north to Townsville for the 3day annual shoot 500m FLY then the 600 Yard and finaly the 1000 yard.
This year i decided i would have a go at 1000 with the 30BR, WHY you ask, Well because everyone says it won`t make it. Haveing only shot 500m 3 or 4 times 600 yards once and 1000 Yards never.
The 500m "FLY" started well in gusty conditions and i was doing OK till i had a brain fade and instead of winding on an inch of windage left as the impacts were right i wound on right and ended up with a blank target. I still managed the highest score on a single target. Will attach Pic.
The next Day conditions where still windy for the 600 yards and i finished 3rd in Group Agg will attach pic of last Target If only.
Then the Third Day well i had my secret weapon hahaha Yeah my 30BR i had got my bullet maker to make me some 125gr projectiles on the same jackets as the 115s i had had so much success with, and they seated exactly the same loaded with Benchmark one as its a finer powder and i could fit more in to give me 3,020Fps with no pressure signs we were camped at the range so after everyone else had left from the 600 yard shoot we set up the target frames and made sure i had enough elevation and that they would go through clean.
First shot was low but on sighter frame so wound up a couple of inches and i was close to the ten ring so left it at that.
That was in fairly calm conditions, Nothing like what we got the next day the big guns were lucky to stay on target 13 to 17 inch groups and some like myself didnt get a group i had 5 inches of windage on in what i had picked as relitivly good condition and i shot with the wind dropping off from a good blow but it dropped more and i only got 4 of my 5 shots on, lost one off the edge into the wind but i havent given up yet i will be back again till i get a group at 1000 yards with the 30BR.
I love a challenge and i don`t want to go to a higher recoil rifle as my spine and shoulder wont handle it.
