A day which we will live in infamy
started load work yesterday on the rifle I've been putting together. Just need a better prone stock but this one will do. Started out with my 175 no sleep 5thou in the lands but it would feed from the magazine. Seated the deep enough that they would feed and not hang up. That gave me 2.825" col. Took some rounds out and had loaded from
45-48 gr charges in 1/2gr increments. They all shot from 3/4 to 1-1/4". Not bad for a start. The load I went with was 47.5gr to work on seating. I loaded up 12 rounds and took them out just now to shoot. They all shot great if it was a hunting rig and the crap stock trigger is like it has rocks in it(that'll be next). Anyway here's the target from today. The center is some I wanted to check how they shot just for practice but they open up a lot at 300 so...

I'm not sure what to do with it from here. Maybe adjust charge a .1 at a time up and down a few each or try to fiddle seating depth more. I wish I had a decent seating die to use also. I'm sure that'll come. I really don't think it's bad for the components that are being used and the rifles intent for now.
The rules for the rifle is it has to be stock barreled action and it's gotta be 308. The kids shooting will be from 10-15 years old. I'm hoping he does good. Anyhow. What are your thoughts?
