.308 wildcat based on 7mm rem mag

Folks, I have an older Savage 110c in 7 mag. I have a boyds stock already for it. I'd like to shoot heavier Berger bullets for it but will be limited by the mag. I would just build a 300 win mag on it but the 215 hybrids I would want to use coupled with the limitations of the mag aren't conducive. Was thinking of necking up a 7 mag case to .308. I'm not sure of the name of the wildcat, but either way I think I could get away with 200 grain hybrids or at least the 185's. I'm not sure if the prc cases will feed with that magazine. Need to use the stock and action I have. Not interested in single feeding for it.

You might consider a 308 Norma Mag. Sometimes brass is easy to find and sometimes it isn't.

It's called a 30-338. Used extensively for 1K Yd competition at one time. I have several reamers for that.
I have an article of a guy that printed like the first recorded 1.5" group or something like that
at 1K with that chambering
I'll have to dig that up
It was inspriring
Wonder if you chambered that one

I have always thought the 308 Norma was the best commercial 30 mag, and the 30-338 was the best wildcat. Winchester would have done everyone a favor if they had simply produced the 30-338, instead of the 300 Win Mag. The problem was, the already-established 308 Norma was a physically larger case. The marketers wanted a case which looked more powerful than the Norma, hence the 300.
Of course, had Winchester produced the 30 Newton in the Model 54 or the Model 70, we would likely have never seen either the 308 Norma or the 300 Winchester. The 30 Newton has the same powder capacity as the 308 Norma and produces the same velocities. The 30-338 holds very slightly less and performance is still just the same.
Ultimately, the cartridge case is just a powder holder and a gasket. WH

.30-28 Nosler might be another option. Mine has a freebore set up for the .210 VLDs but the .215s hybrids fit the magazine too.
