.308 what twist rate?

I'm having a .308 built on a Remington action for hunting and would like to use bullets in the 150gr-180gr weight range, most likely 150gr, 155gr and 168gr. Which barrel twist do you think would be best for the job 1-11'' or 1-12''
I have no interest in bullets over 180gr.

12 would be fine for that weight of bullets

Vulpes , toss a coin either or will do just fine. The guys shooting British Match Rifle all use 1:10 twist barrels but they are shooting projectiles in the 190-210 grain weights to get them to 1200 yards.
I shoot 1:12 Schneider Barrels with 155 grainers but there are plenty of guys using 1:11 twists and having great success particularly when using the Berger VLD's.

I've shot 155-180 grainers through my 1:11 twist with great results...shooting Berger VLD 155, I have had some awesome, for me, results

My 308 has a 1 in 10 twist and it shoots the 168gr Berger Hybrids like a laser. It will keep them under 2 inches at 500 yrds with no problem.

I am running a 13tw Shilen Ratchet Rifled and am stabilizing the 168 grain A-Max at Sea Level and 30 degrees Fahrenheit with 2740 fps MV.

I can say my 1 in 12 does well with 175gr and under.

I have shot Berger 190 VLD's in my 12 twist 28" length 308 with excellent results.

Because you are using this for hunting and might be subjecting it to freezing temps I would chose the 11 twist. it will give you a better Sg (stability) and more bullet options.
