308 to 7/08

I tried necking down some Nosler .308 brass to 7/08.Trimmed the cases to the proper length, and turned the necks. When I tried a dummy round in my rifle the bolt wouldn't close. I'm not a expert, but I am an experienced reloader.
I have a 6x47 Lapua that of course uses 6.5x47 Lapua necked down to 6. I have no problem when I neck down the 6.5,just trim the brass to proper length after resizing.
Forgot to mention the I used a full length die to resize the 308 cases. I'm confused.
Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong
Thanks
Mike

Are you using a standard F/L die or a bushing F/L die? If you are using a bushing die, you may not be able to size the neck far enough to the shoulder. The bushing doesn't sit all the way down to the shoulder.
If you are using a standard die, screw the die down until you get hard cam over on your press. Then try sizing the case. I have had similar trouble before and the last little bit of the neck at the neck/shoulder junction is not getting sized enough. It only takes .001 or .002" inch to deal you misery.

I'm using a standard F.L. die. I tried what you suggested and it worked great. I had my die set for a minimum shoulder bump, apparently you were right, it wasn't sizing the neck all the way to the shoulder junction. I guess we're never too old ( I'm 76) to learn.
Thank you for the help.

Good thing that it was an easy fix. :) I was all out of ideas. You have a little time on me, but not much. And our thinking caps get smaller.
