308 preferred velocities

does the 308 caliber have preferred velocities when using 155, 168, 175 etc bullets when looking for accuracy? I realize there are many other factors controlling the accuracy of a bullet...but maybe a basic starting point for load development.

I get my best accuracy around 2600 FPS give or take with 168 matchkings and hornady 168 match etc.I use blc-2 and 4895 I believe and with a remington .308 VS I get in the .3's all day long.My rifle is completely stock and has around 600 rounds on it.I can hear it now.Ball powders wont due it.Anyways that is my take on the subject along with good reloading practice's.

There's a whole host of data to choose from, for accuracy loads using your bullet preferences. Velocities are incidental.

Most would suggest the 155 Lapua Scenar needs to be pushed over 2900 to get themost out of it. Obviously, work up safely

I think IMR 4064 is accurate near max loads, Varget less than max. Thats about as close to answering what velocity works, as I can get.

I figure out what I want to do with the gun; shoot long range, shoot bug holes at a hundred, hunt up to 500yds etc... Once I know the powder and bullet BC I need to meet my goals, I use seating depth to get my accuracy. Great thing about the .308 is theres a million combo's that shoot very well, and very easily.

Im running 175's at 2750fps for a tactical competition. This (hot) load will shoot .25moa and bucks the wind well out to 800yds.
