Thanks so much for all the replies. Definitely alot for me to study up on before I make some decisions. I'm still halfway setting up my reloading bench, digging through old boxes and unpacking stuff. I have a pound of Varget that is about 10 years old, but man that stuff seems scarce. That's why I'm going to start with a more readily available powder and work from there.
I'll likely get a few different bullets to try and start ladder testing. I'm also working on a 69 grain .223 load for a 20 inch heavy barrel AR and have got to find a good powder for that. I've used 748 for plinking 62gr pills in the past but never worked beyond finding something that grouped decent since I was loading for another AR just to plink with at the range.
