308 PALMA to 6mm Cartridges - 6mm AI, 243 AI, ETC

I recently necked down 308 Palma to 260 AI and I've had great results. Most don't want to mess with the neck work and fireforming but it's a learning experience for me and I enjoy that.

Now I'm considering a 6mm with the Palma brass shooting Hybrids. I know I could shoot 6x47 and I'm still considering that option.

What are some specific issues I'll have getting to 6mm AI from Palma - brass buildup, neck length, etc.?

I appreciate all the experience and opinions.

Which 6mm AI? 6mm remington AI? It'll be too short for that. If your talking about the 243, 6-47L AI or 6 long dasher it'll work. You'll save a bit of money compared to buying 6.5-47 brass. You'll have to turn the necks but it'll be ok.

I made some 6-47L brass from large pocket lapua brass once. Wasn't too had IMO.

Romulus, that 6mm Rem case is notably longer the 308 family of cases.
You might want to check out one of your loading manuals.

Can you explain why the Palma brass will end up too short for 6mm Rem AI?

.308 Win is 2.015" and 6mm Rem and AI are 2.233". 6mm SLR, a cartridge based on .243 Win, would be closer but still ~.030" short.

Just run it as a 243AI? A mate has one running Palma brass and works awesome!!

Anyone got a method for forming 308 Palma brass to 6x47L?

For the 6x47L brass I made from 308 I used Butch Lambert form dies. Push the shoulder back and then neck it down. Takes a few steps but it works.
