.308 load suggestion

In the heyday of the 308 in match rifle competition, 40 to 44 grains of imr4064 was most popular with Sierra 168's.

Same for Varget a grain or so less will equal or better it.

Ball powders never cut the mustard constantly enough.

4064 was my go to powder at the time till i started using VihtaVuori
In the heyday when i used to shoot 308 in comps,i had excellent results with VHT 150 and 550 also.
my loads for 168smk where 41.5-43grn of vht150 or 42.5-45.0 of vht550

With the 168 gr MK you could use any powder mentioned for great accuracy. The .308 is not picky. I use Varget in mine and have never been disappointed with performance.

I've been shooting this rifle for 10 years , my one an only . Shooting Sierra 168 MK over IMR 4064 as Bart B listed from 40. to 42. Being I'm only shooting 200 yards all the time I settled on a load of 40.8 seems to do everything I want , until the next barrel .
