I'm shooting a Rem 700 308 21" barrel . What distance are you shooting and what rifle ? I only shoot at 200 yards , so the load I use is a mild load . Bullet is a Sierra 168gr HPBT MatchKing seated over IMR 4064 40.8 grains , the Sierra has a .002 jump , groups average a consistent 1/2" three 10 shot groups , I use 3 one inch 1/4" square outline in black boxes on a 8.5 x11 sheet , scope set at 24 , eyes aren't as good as they use to be and need all the help I can get . Rear bag and bi pod set up shooting off a bench. Hope I Helped .

44gr Varget worked well for me. CCI BR, Lapua LRP Brass, .020 from lands.

My standard QC test load for the 168s for many years was 41.0 grains of Varget, good for 2,550-2,600 FPS, which is right where the 168s do their best. Used it it scores of different rifles, firing tens of thousands of 10-shot groups, and never saw a gun that wouldn’t shoot bug holes when the bullets were running well.

With the 168gr SMK I've had good results with Varget, Re-15 and H-4895. My rifle seems to favor H-4895 for around 2650 fps. I get more groups in the .2s with this powder. You'll have to find where your rifle likes to shoot by trying different powders and charge weights.

If you are loading for a 1:10 twist barrel, I'd try either RE15, IMR4895, or Varget in the 41.8 - 42.2 Range. I like RE15 the best in my .308 with Varget being the dirtiest shooting powder of the three. And that's at 100 yds because anything over 300 yds will require a 175gr (or heavier) bullet and more powder. Gotta test to find out what your rifle like and start off AT LEAST .010 off the lands.
