308 Lapua small primer pocket brass?

I seen today that Sinclair has them in stock. Anyone tried them yet? My large rifle primer pocket brass is doing very well. I think I can find better use of $82 since I haven't seen any info or data on how much difference or advantages over the large rifle pockets. I was just wondering if anyone had tried them? If not what are your thoughts on this brass? Do you think it will really make that big of a difference with a small rifle pocket? The theroy sounds good, but would like to hear a little about how well it is working in real life?

The US Palma team thinks that they are worth it. I bought 100 to see what difference it might make. If the results are noteworthy, I will post them.

BTW, Powder Valley had them for $64.53.

Steve, Thanks for the heads up on powder valley. Don't know why I didn't think to look there. Duh :

I've been shooting them for almost a year now and there are a couple points of improvement over the large primer case. They shoot a wider range of primer lots, all of the primers tested looked good. No more hunting for the "good" lot. The primer pockets will stay tight with the hot loads.

Have you shot them with Wolf SRM primers? I have all the usual SR primers (CCI 450 & BR4, Fed 205M, Rem 7½, Wolf KVB-5.56M) but best results have been with the Wolf. What primers do best for you?

What happens to your loads when you switch from large to small. Will I have to rework all my loads?

I found that I increased powder (Varget) charges by .3 grains or so with the small primer version for the same velocity. With my current lot of V I run 26.3 g. LR vs. 26.6 g. SR for a velocity of 2980 fps/155 g. bullets.

I have used the Lapua small primer (PALMA} brass with wolf small mag primers. Seat the primer deep. and there is no problem.. The problem comes in they can not be found.. Tommy Mc Not on the export list. Sad..

Thats a pretty small charge for a .308

FWIW - Palma brass will take higher pressure for longer than will Std. (lg rifle primer) brass. The internal case volume will be about 0.3-0.5 gr greater. The brisance of the sm rifle will not be the same as a lg rifle primer, and the flash hole is smaller. Any loads developed in Std. brass need to be re-developed when switching to Palma brass, most likely from scratch, as they will probably be quite different.

Add me to the list, but then he's shooting 155's. I'd be curious to see what results you'd get when shooting 168-175gr with loads of 42gr+ of Varget or RE15 even at 100 yds. Remember, that brass with small primer pockets is design for Palma (155 gr) bullets and I'm sure the small primer pockets works as well with the 190's and 210's regardless of distance. I'm just curious.
