.308 Custom Barrel Recomendation

Assuming that this barrel will be for hunting and shooting targets for fun! I would have to say a Pacnor would do just fine! Pacnor offer's prefit barrels in most gun maker's (Rem, Sav, Ruger etc.) I don't own a Pacnor, But my Smith has proven more than once they are a force to be reckon with!

Rock Barrels are making some of the best 30 caliber barrels on the planet.

And PacNor barrels stand up to fierce competition too - since I bagan using them, in 1996, I've piled up a fair amount of both faux and REAL wood, and a few NBRSA Hunter HoF points, using thirty caliber PacNors - they don't need no stinkin' caveats! ;)

For your intended bullet length/weight range, a 1:12" twist will prove perfect. RG

A Palma shooter on here told me to go with a little slower twist a few years ago, I took his advise and he was right.I used a 12 and would have went 13 if the Manufacturer had it. Just my two centavos senior!

There are a lot of real good barrel makers Brux,Hart, Krieger, Broughton and Shillen just to name a few. I believe 1 in 10 twist would be the right twist for the bullet weight you are looking to shoot. If you didn't want to shoot 180gr bullets I would recommend a 1 in 12 twist but you will need 1 in 10 to shoot 180 gr bullets. I am sure you woud be happy with any of the barrel makers listed above. I have used all of these myself and have never had a bad barrel. Not to say that you can't get one because nobody is perfect. It is very rare. Which ever one you choose will be a good choice.
