.308 barrel block rifle. First outing!

Just got back from the range, conditions were not ideal very windy, 15 to 20mph from the left and slightly to the rear. All in all I am pretty pleased with the results for a rifle that I totally built myself including my first chambering. It took the first 8 shots to even find the target with 46g RL15 behind a berger 155.5 fullbore, lapua cases. I then set up an OCW test with 2 powders. RL15 and 2000MR.

I shot a total of 3 x 8 shots setup in 0.5 grain increments for the RL15 and 3 x 7 in 0.5 grain increments for the 2000MR

First picture is my son Scott trying out the .308.

First target is the worst out of 15 groups of three. Second is the best grouping. All at 100yards.

It looks promising. I know you plan to use the bipod, but front and rear bags would give better stability for testing. You might also try other bullets before worrying about varying powder charges, not every barrel likes Berger bullets. I was lucky in my .300 Win Mag barrel, I found it liked the 208gr. A-Max on the first outing, it put them in the same hole at 100, I've never tried any other bullet or powder.
