308 125 amp

This amp jacket , is it made for game ?
Also , has the TGK been discontinued? looked on ammo seek for some 125’s , nothing .
Thanks , Kenneth

Not really meant for game, but for varmint.
AMP stands for Advanced Manufacturing Process, which by itself tells us nothing. However, they mention it is an FMJ meant for varmint use.

Midsouth and Blue Collar had some of the Sierra TGK a little while back, but they didn't last long.
Hard to say when those will come back around.

BTW, if you wanted a 125 varmint bullet, then the 125 Speer TNT is popular and available at a few places right now.

Thanks everyone , was looking to deer hunt with them .
Found some TGK’s in 165 but I have a 308 that shoots these light bullets really well .
That’s why the interest in 125’s .
Shot a mature doe in the neck last year with 125 TGK and it blew a hole in the neck you could stick two fist in .
Wicked bullet

For deer you'd be recommended to look instead at 130gr that are far less likely to be a varmint projectile but a better constructed bullet. I've taken many with the cheap soft point 130gr Hornady although much of our hunting here is well under 100yds. 4 and 10 yds are my closest.

Went to local gun shop and ordered some 125 Ballistic tips last night .
Just came in from testing some loads with the few 125 SGC’s I have .
With 41.7 gr of H414 over cci mag primer with an aol of 3.012 , 3,019 , 3.24 with chamber Oal being 3.022
The 3.012 and 3.019 both ran in the .8”‘ with the 3.024 running in the .6’s
Not a big difference but will be able to tell more when I can get up into the high line ROW and stretch out to 200-300 yds .
100 yds is all I got in my back yard .
It’s quite a work out toting two rifles , ammo and back pack for shooting across up that steep ass mountain but I like the excersise it gives my old legs and lungs .
Good shooting to all

The 125 gr Ballistic Tip works well on deer. The best bullet in that weight range is a Barnes 130 gr TTSX. Varget with that bullet will easily hit 3000+

I load that for my grandson and I can guarantee you deer don't like it. Accurate as well. Std primers work well.

Tried the H414 with standard primers , for some reason the cold shot always hit 2-3” higher than successive shots . With the mag primers everything stays in nice clusters 1.5” high .
I tried the 130 TSX’s the rifle didn’t seem to want to group under 1.25” some powders pushed it up to two inches or more .
How ever the 110 TTSX’s shot nice and tight , seems they were in the .6’s if I remember right .
I do remember that at 200 yds they were shooting 1.25-1.5” across a back pack
The 150 TSX’s ran a little under an inch at 100 but opened up to 2.5” at 200 yds .
I have plenty of 110 TTSX AND 130 TTSX
was considering the 110’s , not sure how they’ll do on deer , but with their design they should work .
Mostly playing right now , but if the SGC’s pan out at 200-300 I will likely go with them or BT’s

Most of the 125's I've used (Nos, Sierra, Speer, Horn) were sketchy under 100 yds. They work great if you want DRT performance, But not so good if you like to have as much meat as possible

I agree with the meat factor but I’m planning on using these for 200-300 yds shots .
Got a few deer up there in the high line ROW and just want to take some at more than normal ranges that I get here which is usually 10-60 yds , a 100 is rare because of growth .
Got some farms I hunt but but never see any standing , most are hauling ass or to far away ,
