300wsm with a 308 bolt face

I have turned down br brass to fit a ppc bolt face with no problems. Could a person do this with 300 wsm brass to fit a 308 win bolt face, or will I be removing too much for the base of the brass. I know it can be done but is it safe??

It can be done easy enough but you'll not have very much rim left on the altered case...

Why not just open the bolt face a bit and solve the problem? Seems it would be far less of a pain as well.

Anyway, you will only have .0035 of rim left for the extractor to grab, I would think that may create it's own issues, like not being able to extract fired cases.


Machining the bolt face is going to be your best bet.

Why not buy a second bolt for the mag bolt face?
