300WSM update

My Dave Short built 300WSM has now finally got 100 rounds on it! actually 103 rounds. I have been fireforming brass and playing with some loads. I took it to Mcdonald ground hog shoot this weekend to do some paper testing for group. I also wanted to see it out long and see how long it would run before it would start to foul. I shot it at 1075 and while there was more wind than I would like there was almost no mirage groups stayed between 5" and 8" but more importantly the vertical stayed under 2". When I took it to the groundhog shoot it had 30 rounds on it without cleaning and the group I am posting was at 400 meters and I had already shot 19 rounds at the match so for rounds 50+ I am very please with what it did in the conditions LOTS of mirage and with new brass.

It was the gun. I am the weak link in the set up I am sure of that.

That may be, but keeping all your shots inside two pasters at 440 yards, you're doing something right.

I like it, usually run Norma but got a couple hundred pieces of this. it's a touch lighter but very consistent and nice to work with. I have this load for competition so pressure and things aren't any problem at all at the speed's it's shooting. I have run it for LR hunting rigs and really pushed it with no problem in the past though. Usually it takes an extra .5 grain or so of powder to get the same pressure as my Norma brass.

Thats good info. I've thought about putting a barrel on my f-class rig in 300wsm. I appreciate reading about your 300wsm's
