300RUM first trip out

Got this off of Muledeer off this forum. He bought the barreled action 28" stainless fluted Krieger with side brake on a trued Remington action with a PTG bolt. He added a Jewel trigger, Badger base, and a XLR side folder stock too it - Then sold it to me before he had a chance to shoot it and it was only test fired when he got it.
I started with Nosler brass 7mmRUM (I had a lot) I necked it up and stuffed 90+ grains of retumbo in it. It has a close to sami chamber so I used a 190 berger and ended up with a COAL of 3.722 just kissing the lands. It shot some decent 100 yard groups right out of the gate so I took the best shaped one and loaded some more virgin brass and shot it out long. Very impressed with the results so far. It should only get better with the brass once I get it all once fired. Small Group was 100 yards, the big group was 1140 yards.
Next I am gonna try and take it out too 2000 if I can find the time to get up to my friends.

Thanks it's a Leupold VX3i 6.5-20 LRP very nice unit for the price honestly. But now that I see what I can do I am gonna probably put an ATACR on it wouldn't mind that extra 5x and the additional travel in the scope.

300 RUM...You GOTTA try the 215 and 230 Bergers!!! You have the horsepower. You didn't mention the twist, but I'll bet money that it is at least a 1-10 twist.

She is a 10 twist. I would have usually run the heavier pills but it's throated pretty short so with this barrel I will stick to under 200 grainers I think. Now if I can just NOT sale it before I get to hunt with it, it will be a miracle LOL

I have an ATACR that I can put on it I just haven't yet. If I didn't have one that one in the classifieds would be mine! especially with the price going up on them.

I have a custom .300 Win Mag that has a fairly short throat...however, it shoots outstanding with both the 215 Hybrids and 230 OTM Hybrids even though the bullets must be seated deeper than I prefer...still works great. My point is the heavier bullets may perform in yours as well.

I have now got all brass fireformed. And shot 3 shot groups from 953, 1035, 1050 & 1055 on different days different conditions. Worst group was 7.28 and the best .714! Couldn't be happier with it. It's wearing new glass put a NF beast on it and have taken 2 ground hogs 1051 & 902.
Now it's time to hunt with it til I see something else I want then sale it.

Makes me want to put a Harrells brake on my 300 RUM Sendero, grab some 190s and see what it will do. I've had it for years and never shot it yet.

Here she is with the new scope. Gonna take it out and play a little more today then if all stays as planned I will be able to take it out too 2000 next week.
