300PRC questions…

Okay…I’ve read enough about the clickers and I know about Alex’s AW2 reamer. I suspect there is a reamer (I have Saami), brass (Lapua) and die (not bought yet) combination that will size the brass correctly to avoid having to buy another reamer… which dies have a base that matches the saami/Lapua combo?

Is there one or am I screwed?

Thanks.

We've never had a problem with the 300 PRC, a SAAMI reamer, and clickers. We have chambered and developed loads for several.

I thought the issue was with the the 6.5 PRC, and we did have a couple issues with those. Lately, we haven't had any problems with the 6.5 PRC either.

The question that can't be answered is which die. I have never measured Lapua 300 PRC brass but tend to think they know what they're doing making brass to SAAMI specs. SAAMI chamber with SAAMI brass should not be a problem. Problems arise when people get cute with reamer dimensions. As for myself I use Hornady dies.

Are you actually having clickers? And what reamer was used in your rifle
You skimmed my post ;) We all do it at times…barrel hasn’t been chambered yet. I measured the action last nite and realized I didn’t have dies yet. I hadn’t bought them because I wanted to ask the knowledge base here their thoughts.

Thanks guys, I’ve had them in a 6brx and a 6.5x284 so would like to avoid if possible.

I have had two 300 PRC’s. One was factory, and Hornady brass and Redding dies did produce clickers on the second and third case re load. I bought an AW2 reamer and cleaned it up, no more problem. Current rifle I chambered with the same reamer and no problems, I finally got some Lapua brass as well.

Judd, I have an AW2 Reamer with two chambers cut with it. You are welcome to use it, im over here by Runaway Bay.

Thanks V35. If I can get motivated I’m going to get it chambered today but if I experience them I might take you up on a clean up.

I have several reamers that are too tight on the base. It's pretty easy to polish out the chamber a few thou. Actually it takes some work to polish that much out but it's not difficult to execute.

Just make sure your web area is .535 and any die will do.
