300 wsm velocity?

What velocity should be expected out of 32" barrel using 215s or 230s? Trying to find out articles and can't find a ton of info. Looks like 2900 just about in 215s....? Fopen rig

Thanks

My ideas are running on this rainy summer evening..... future project possibly

This week I've been working on loads with my new HG barrel and at 61.5 grains it's in the 2830 fps range with Berger 210 Long Range BT.

I myself also am wondering where I need to be at with velocity using a 32" barrel as well.

I'm running a low node and I'm at 2785 with the 230's and 64.8 4831sc. Out of a 1-9 32" Brux. Working up to a higher node tomorrow if the weather holds out. Hoping for 2850+

I have ran 208s as fast as 3065fps from a 28" barrel without issue at all. That was Bertram brass coated bullets and a fast barrel. I usually rub them from 2875 up to 2950 but let the paper be your guide.

If you have enough freebore for the 230 Hybrid you can reach 2,900 fps with RL-25/RL-26 & IMR-7828ssc, 30"-32" barrel.

Do you rub them from tip to base, or back and forth?

I'll be working up my load in the morning. Right now at 61.5 grains of H4350, my velocity Avg. is 2830 fps and shooting around 1" at 600 yards. So tomorrow I'll run it up to 63.5 grains in .5 grain increments.

With Norma brass and H4350 64.0 was the top of the pressure 2925 fps out of a 30" barrel. That was what I got in my last one I used h4350 in.

What was your go to load and velocity?

Today's test using the 210 VLD are as follow

61.5 avg 2831, had one shot that the velocity went to 2849 for some reason. The other 3 shots were at 2821, 2823 and 2823.
For 3 shots the group measured .197 but that one high velocity shot took it to a 2.734. I'll revisit those same 4 pieces of brass with same load to see if I have a bad brass or if I goofed on the powder charge.

Next
62.0 velocity 2848 ES 14 SD 5.6
62.5 " 2868 ES 12 SD 5.5
63.0 " 2884 ES 5 SD 2.5 next best group of 1.136
63.5 " 2909 ES 8 SD 8

I don't show any pressure signs at 63.5 so I'm gonna creep on up and see where the cases begin showing signs and try and find a higher node.

Here's the 61.5 load with flyer at 600 yards from this morning. The hole at 6:00 is a shot from another group just below this one.

Norma brass 208 amax - 64.0 H4350 2925fps - shot 3.152" at 1130 yards for testing.
Winchester brass 208 amax - 64.6 H4350 2936fps - shot 3.56" at 1080
Bertram brass 208 amax - 65.6 RL17 - 3065fps - didn't shoot for group but killed a deer at 1071. That load was coated in tungsten disulfide.

All those where MAX loads but shot really well. nothing was over 15fps ES.

Thanks for your data, I'll creep on up and see what happens with groups and pressure.

Where are you guys getting Bertram brass and does it give up capacity to Winchester?

I shoot 215's with 69grs of R-26 in my 26" Brux barreled hunting gun. The velocity is 2960fps. My COAL is 3.198 so it's throated pretty long.

I can't remember where I ordered it from lol I got a few hundred pieces a few years ago.
It is lighter than the Winchester giving it more capacity. With the RL26 I got up to 71 grains with a drop tube but it wants as consistent as I wanted.
