300 WSM REAMER PRINTS. NECK? FREEBORE FOR 215 HYBRIDS/230HYBRIDS

Looking to set up mainly for 215 Hybrids but would lie to try 230 hybrids also. Can you guys help me with neck/freebore dimensoins.
Thanks, Tom( F-Class)

Steve thank you very much for this information. Its so nice to have great shooter's willing to share information. If I can help you out on anything that may come up I will return the favor.
Thanks,Thomas

Steve another question for you. I see the freebore is .280. Do you think a little shorter freebore would work better with 215 bullets or does this one work fine? Next having shot both bullets which one do you think is more reliable at 1000yard. I know the 230 have more recoil thats why i was leaning towards 215's but if the 230 are worth shooting I'm sure i could get use to it.
Thanks,Thomas

Yes, a shorter freebore would be better for 215 Hybrids. .280" is correct for 230 Hybrids and just happens to work with 215 Hybrids and 220 Scenar L. [br]
Shooting 230 Hybrids is a problem. I can reach 2950 fps from 34" but cannot track reliably. 2860 fps is at the edge but can be managed by exploiting every trick I know. 2800 fps works very well and is noticeably easier to manage. [br]
My feeling is that shooting 215's at any reasonable velocity is Ok but can be equaled ballistically by a 7mm with less recoil. The range to consider is .284 Win with 180 Hybrids at the low end, .300 WSM with 230 Hybrids at the high end. Both, and anything in between, can win.

Once again Steve thanks for the information. I currently shoot a shehane with 180 berger's and does quite well. I'm in the proscess of doing a 7/300wsm for the 195's that are coming out in the fall. I needed a backup gun for nationals. So here i go. 230's and your reamer print!!!! What powder do you find works best? H-4831sc or H-4350. Also i have a 32" bartlien 10 twist this should be fine?

H4831 SC is the right choice. Start at 63.0 and test for pressure bounds, then do load development. It's a forgiving cartridge. A 32", 10" twist barrel will be fine but your next one should be a 9.5" twist. Ben Avery is ~1640' above sea level, so you'll be fine.
