300 WSM Hornady 225gr ELD-M

Just curious if anyone on here has used the 225gr eld m's in a 300 wsm? How have they shot and what sort of velocity were you getting with them? The Berger Hybrids look very popular but at down in Australia we have supply issues frequently with Berger unfortunately. Any information greatly appreciated

Thanks for your time

Wondering about this myself for a long action to take advantage of powder space.elk hunting would be my goal.

I have tried them, but you need a huge freebore. I have a 280 fb and it's not nearly enough.

Wow thats alot, Ive read on here with guys running the 230gr berger hybrids with .280 freebore and they are a longer bullet from what ive read. What trouble did you have with the freebore and the 225gr eld m?

I run the 230s in a 280fb without any trouble. I do not know which bullet is longer, but that doesn't really matter. The 225 has a much, much longer bearing surface and that is what causes the problem with the 280fb. You get the bullet into the doughnut area and it just causes problems. i don't feel that a 280fb is appropriate for that bullet.

Yes, the 225 Hornady bullet gets into the case. With the 230 hybrids I am jumping about 25 thousands.

Thanks for your information, I might look to run the 215-230's in mine too. What sort of rifle do you run the 230's in? And what sort of velocity/accuracy are you getting?
