I should have mentioned that I am running the tikka long action magazines with a long action bolt stop. I don’t know why in the world tikka uses shortened magazines for their WSM chamberings?
I would make a dummy round with the the two bullets with the base at the case neck/shoulder junction. Measure the CBTO on each, and order a reamer with 0.020" or so more freebore of the longest one. I would however check dummies rounds made with a few other good LR bullets. You don't want to order a reamer that accommodates only one bullet and find that you don't like it and the other bullets are too far off the lands for you. That case seems a little small to me to be optimal with 225s, but I haven't checked it out so maybe its ok.
I am running the same thing in my factory Tikka T3 300wsm. It allows me to shoot any bullet I want. I found I had to sand down the inside of the Tikka factory LA mags a few thousandths. The factory short mags were a little fatter. Once I stuck more than one wsm round in the factory LA mags, they would bind and create feeding issues. If you pop the bottom off and remove the follower, you can easily access the inside and create any extra "room" if needed. It did not take much.
Yes, the 300wsm fits with a little sanding on the sides as stated above with length to spare touching the lands. The 284 fits with no mag mods. The Tikka factory 300 WSM mags are the short action variety. They can't take the longer bullets without jamming them way into the case. Are you sure a 300wsm case will fit in a tikka long action mag..
I've got a 284 built on a T3 long action which has loads of room on the length but I'm not sure that fat 300wsm case will fit in..
I will try a 7mm saum case later
